Privacy notice Easy Connect app, effective as of March 2019
Introduction
AB Volvo Penta (“Volvo Penta”) will collect and use (“process”) your personal data as a user (with Volvo Penta user account) of the Easy Connect app; this is Volvo Penta’s app that provides you with connected services for your Volvo Penta product. If you merely use the Easy Connect app, without creating a Volvo Penta user account, Volvo Penta will not collect nor use your personal data.
All personal data that Volvo Penta obtains will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 (“GDPR”).
This privacy notice provides further information specifically regarding the processing of your personal data by Volvo Penta in the context of the Easy Connect app. For any (general) information regarding your rights as a data subject, please see our General Privacy Notice.

Volvo Penta will link all of your personal data that it obtains within the framework of the Easy Connect services to your data that is already in Volvo Penta’s customer data base, provided that Volvo Penta is able to match your Volvo Penta user account to existing owner data in Volvo Penta’s customer data base, based on an identical e-mail address. For more information regarding the processing of (other) personal data relating to you as a customer, which is not specifically related to the Easy Connect app, please also see General Privacy Notice.
Purpose and legal basis
Through the Easy Connect app, Volvo Penta provides connected services to its customers that have purchased the Easy Connect interface for their Volvo Penta product. For more information on these connected services, please see the Easy Connect end user license agreement (the “Connected Services”). Creating a Volvo Penta user account, which triggers the processing of your personal data by Volvo Penta, allows you to seamlessly access the same data on several mobile devices (i.e. your smartphone(s) and tablet(s)) even if such devices are not (all) connected to the Easy Connect interface (instead of just on the device that is connected to the Easy Connect interface).
Volvo Penta will process your personal data, because you have consented hereto when activating the Connected Services on the Easy Connect app. You may withdraw your consent at any time by deactivating the Connected Services via the Easy Connect app or by deleting your Volvo Penta user account (see, Volvo Penta User Account Privacy Notice).
Please note that Volvo Penta may provide you with information about the functionality of the Easy Connect app. This information will be uploaded in the Easy Connect app, and be made accessible for you.
If you have consented hereto, you may also receive such functionality information via push notifications. You may withdraw your consent to receive such information via push notifications at any time by deactivating push notifications via the settings of the Easy Connect app or by deleting your Volvo Penta user account (see, Volvo Penta User Account Privacy Notice)
However, please note that Volvo Penta may keep certain personal data even in case of deactivation of the Easy Connect app or deletion of your Volvo Penta user account. Please see below “Data Retention Periods”.
Your personal data
When you have created a Volvo Penta user account for the Easy Connect app, Volvo Penta will collect the following personal data relating to you within the framework of the Connected Services (in addition to any other personal data Volvo Penta may already have collected in the past). The data can be created by you or via the Easy Connect app and Easy Connect interface.

Further, for the purpose of provide you with information about the functionality of the Easy Connect app, Volvo Penta will use your device number(s).
Please note that retention periods for data created by the user as compared to data created via the Easy Connect app will differ, please see below “Data retention periods”.
Transfer of your personal data
For the provision of the Connected Services, Volvo Penta may provide your personal data to the following third parties:
These parties are primarily located in the European Economic Area, with exception of Volvo Group companies which can be located elsewhere. Volvo Penta will in all such cases use all reasonable endeavors to satisfy itself that there are appropriate safeguards in place which provide adequate levels of protection of your personal data as required by applicable data protection laws.
If you access the services from a country outside the European Economic Area, you consent to that your personal data is transferred to such country, for the sole purpose of enabling your access to the Easy Connect app.
Data retention periods
Volvo Penta will process the data created by you, as the user, as well as the location data only until you withdraw your consent by deactivating the Connected Services via the Easy Connect app or by deleting your Volvo Penta user account.
The data created via the Easy Connect app (with exception of location data) will be kept during the expected lifetime of the engine, in accordance with our General Privacy Notice and for the purposes set forth therein.
Your rights
Your rights are explained in detail in our General Privacy Notice. Please do also inform us of any changes in your personal data.

Amendments
This privacy notice may be amended from time to time within the boundaries of applicable data protection legislation. In that case, Volvo Penta changes the date of the "effective as of" at the top of the document. In case of significant changes, Volvo Penta will notify you by posting a notice about the changes before they take effect or by sending you a notification via e-mail.
