Privacy notice Volvo Penta ID, effective as of April 2019

 

 

Introduction

 

AB Volvo Penta (“Volvo Penta”) will collect and use (“process”) your personal data because you have created a Volvo Penta ID for the provision of one or more Volvo Penta services.

 

All personal data that Volvo Penta obtains will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 (“GDPR”).

 

This privacy notice provides further information specifically regarding the processing of your personal data by Volvo Penta in the context of your Volvo Penta ID. For any (general) information regarding your rights as a data subject, please see our General Privacy Notice.

 

If Volvo Penta is able to match your Volvo Penta ID to existing owner data in Volvo Penta’s customer data base, based on an identical e-mail address, Volvo Penta will link both data sets. For more information regarding the processing of (other) personal data relating to you as a customer, which is not specifically related to your Volvo Penta ID, please also see our General Privacy Notice.

 

Purpose and legal basis

 

Creating a Volvo Penta ID allows you to enjoy additional features from various Volvo Penta services, provided of course that you also activate such services. These features differ from one Volvo Penta service to another. For example, if you activate Volvo Penta’s Easy Connect services, having a Volvo Penta ID allows you to seamlessly access the same data on several mobile devices (i.e. your smartphone(s) and tablet(s)), even if such devices are not (all) connected to the Easy Connect interface (instead of just on the device that is connected to the Easy Connect interface). 

 

Volvo Penta will process your personal data, because you have consented hereto when creating a Volvo Penta ID. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting Volvo Penta by email at (volvo-penta-account-support@volvo.com) with the request to delete your Volvo Penta ID.

 

Please be aware that deactivating Volvo Penta’s services does not cause your Volvo Penta ID to be deleted. Further, Volvo Penta will not stop the processing of your personal data related to your Volvo Penta ID (see below) when you uninstall Volvo Penta’s apps from your mobile device. To delete your Volvo Penta ID and to stop Volvo Penta’s processing of your personal data related to your Volvo Penta ID, you must contact Volvo Penta as per above.

 

If you have activated a Volvo Penta service, separate privacy notices apply to each service.

 

Your personal data

 

When you create a Volvo Penta ID, Volvo Penta will collect the following personal data relating to you (in addition to any other personal data Volvo Penta may already have collected in the past): your first and last name, country of residence and e-mail address as well as your consent with the processing of your personal data in accordance with this privacy notice.

 

Transfer of your personal data

 

Volvo Penta may provide your personal data to the following third parties:

 

-         Volvo Group companies;

-         Cloud service providers, app developers and other IT (service) providers;

These parties are primarily located in the European Economic Area, with exception of Volvo Group companies which can be located elsewhere. Volvo Penta will in all such cases use all reasonable endeavors to satisfy itself that there are appropriate safeguards in place which provide adequate levels of protection of your personal data as required by applicable data protection laws.

 

Data retention periods

 

Volvo Penta will process the personal data relating to your Volvo Penta ID (as described above) until you withdraw your consent. Please be aware that in such case you will no longer be able to enjoy certain features relating to Volvo Penta’s services (as explained above).

 

Please be aware that data retention periods for other personal data relating to you may differ from the above described retention period for personal data relating to your Volvo Penta ID. For more information relating to other data retention periods, please see General Privacy Notice as well as the privacy notices relating to the Volvo Penta services that you may have activated.

 

Your rights

 

Your rights are explained in detail in General Privacy Notice. Please do also inform us of any changes in your personal data.

Amendments

 

This privacy notice may be amended from time to time within the boundaries of applicable data protection legislation. In that case, Volvo Penta changes the date of the "last update" at the top of the document. In case of significant changes, Volvo Penta will notify you by posting a notice about the changes before they take effect or by sending you a notification via e-mail.
